After reviewing the poll results, the person that you, our readers, voted for this week’s Beast of the Beasts is David Krejci. Krejci had been in a serious slump, registering only 1 goal and 1 assist in 13 games played. In the last five he has jumped to 5 goals and 1 assist, that’s quite an improvement. The spark came after coach Claude Julien moved Krejci around a bit from different lines to different positions. He is currently sporting a line with forwards Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin whom he is centering.
The month of March has proven to be where Krejci thrives as an athlete, the minute the calendar flips and the numbers are there to prove it. Krejci has put up 13 goals and 20 assists along with a plus-14 in 32 games during the month of March over the last three years. (via Bruins statistics)
“He likes to thrive on big occasions. There’s no doubt that every playoff he’s played in, he’s been a good player. Every year at the end of the year, he’s always been a good player,” said Claude Julien. “What I remember the most is my first year here when [Krejci] was a rookie. We lost Patrice [Bergeron] and then [Marc] Savard with a broken back, and [Krejci] came in and just took over.”(via CSNNE.com)
It seems to be Seguin and Lucic’s speed that is the driving force behind the success of Krejci, paired with his undeniable talent. As he has been flourishing with the two forwards on either side of him. The tempo of his game has increased and the line as a whole has posted six goals for the team in the last two games. You can’t argue with those numbers.
“[Krejci is at his best] when he controls the pace and uses his wingers and gets into those areas where he can score those goals,” said Lucic. “Obviously, it’s been kind of an up and down year for David and it’s been frustrating at times for him, but it’s great to see him work through it.”(via CSNNE.com)
