The Merlot Line Stays Together! (Credit: Flickr/Slidingsideways)

Today I thought we would celebrate the signings of Gregory Campbell and Chris Kelly by showing off the assets that they truly are to Boston.

First of all, I am so happy to say that the Merlot line is SIGNED! Meaning our wonderful fourth line consisting of Campbell, Shawn Thornton , and Daniel Paille. This line is easily one of the most effective on the team because of the energy they bring when the other three lines just can’t produce. Campbell this season finished with 8 goals and 8 assists which doesn’t exactly sound spectacular but lets remember that Soupy can score goals like this.

And then there’s Chris Kelly who to me is one of the most understated players we have. I mean there is a reason he was given an Assistant Captain duty this season. He finished the season with 20 goals and 19 assists and that was just in regular season. Though the B’s were only in one round of playoffs, Kelly made his presence known scoring the OT winner in Game 1 which you can check out below. I think signing Kelly was definitely a top priority for the team and I’m happy we have a few more years with him.

Hockey officially ended last night. So let’s send a big congrats to the LA Kings. I’m sending a school shout out to Jonathan Quick for being the first UMass hockey player to win a Stanley Cup. But Kings don’t get too comfy with the cup, the Bruins will be taking it back next season!
