Finally the Boston Bruins made a ripple in the water today in the ocean known as free agency. Yesterday, July 9, GM Peter Chiarelli announced that the Bruins organization signed center Christian Hanson to a one-year, two-way contract through 2012-2013. At the NHL level his contract is worth $600,000 and at the AHL level $105,000.
Christian is 6’4″, 228 pounds and spent last season with the Hershey Bears (AHL). He tallied 10 goals, 11 assists and 42 penalty minutes in 52 games, with a plus-five rating. However 2010-2011 was his best year, where he set career highs with the Toronto Marlies(AHL) in 58 games played. He registered 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points and added 51 penalty minutes, tying for fifth on the team in points and seventh in goals.
Christian is the son of Dave Hanson, a retired American hockey player who is best known for his appearance in SlapShot as one of the Hanson brothers. We look forward to seeing what you can do Christian, welcome to Boston!
[Author’s Note: I also apologize if at any point in time in these articles I reference Hanson’s songs/lyrics when discussing Christian, there’s a good chance it will happen.]
