Bruins Around Boston

With today being the first day of August, we are getting closer and closer to Bruins hockey action. To get you through the withdrawals, we’ve got some updates on a few of your favorite B’s players!

– Today defenseman Torey Krug was at the TD garden and had time to get a picture with the infamous Bobby Orr statue, who Krug says is his idol. You can see the picture above.

-Speaking of Bruins legends, Ray Bourque will be participating in Milan Lucic’s Rock & Jock Softball game in three weeks from today.  Bruins players confirmed so far are Bourque, Lucic, Dennis Seidenberg, and former Bruin Jay Miller. For more information check out the official site here. This will be my second year attending, and I can say it is completely worth it to see some of your favorite B’s players playing a different kind of game.

-Tomorrow, Tuukka Rask will make his first media appearance since finalizing his contract agreement on July 1st. The goalie will be making an appearance at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. The Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is one of the world’s premier centers for pediatric cancer research and treatment and Rask will be going to meet with patients and their families. As for Rask’s thoughts on this upcoming season, we will have a full update tomorrow.

-This upcoming weekend, the Boston Bruins Foundation Bike Team will be participating in the 33rd annual Pan-Mass Challenge. The bike-a-thon raises money for cancer research at the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Bruins are expected to send 32 cyclists to ride in the bike-a-thon, including Bob Sweeney, Executive Director of the Boston Bruins Foundation, and former Bruins defenseman Frank Simonetti. The weekend event raises more money for a charity than any other event in the country. A big reason that I love my team so much is because of their activeness in the community and philanthropic events.

Hopefully all of these updates will help the next month fly by. If not, start buying some new sherseys and re-watch the Stanley Cup Champions DVD to get yourself Bruins hockey ready!
