Tuukka Rask made his presence in Boston known yesterday as he visited patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. Afterward the B’s top goaltender met with the media for the first time since re-signing with the team. With the ‘sitting out’ of Tim Thomas, Rask has become the #1 goaltender for the Boston Bruins. The question looming on everyone’s minds, is he ready? The answer is yes.
“It’s been a goal, I played some games my first year consistently, but year after was kinda a step back from playing time-wise.” (via Bruins News)
While Rask stated he is upset to see his friend take the year off, he is happy to get his time to shine and is willing to do whatever it takes.
“You know you go out there and you do your best and practice hard; you work hard and you just play at your level and I know my level is not too low in general so I just gotta work hard to maintain a [high] level.” (via Bruins News)
Tuukka also assured the media that his groin injury he suffered at the tail end of last season is fully healed and behind him and that he is 100% ready to go. Between Rask and Khudobin along with the core of the team sticking together, the Bruins will definitely be Cup Contenders this season.
As for Tim Thomas, his days in the Black and Gold are over, but his great reputation he built up in Boston is rapidly disintegrating. With his latest antics regarding Chic-Fil-A and his most recent, posting about five other businesses that stand with Chick-Fil-A, he’s only making matters worse for himself. We can only hope that the negative energy surrounding Thomas doesn’t spill over and haunt the Bruins for the season. This is Rask’s time to shine and get out of the Thomas shadow, this should be the year of the Bruins once again.
