Tonight the Providence Bruins head back home to take on the Portland Pirates in a re-match. The two teams met on Wednesday night and despite Ryan Spooner putting the Bruins on the board early, the Pirates skated off with a 2-1 victory.
Ryan Spooner posted the only goal of the game for the Bruins as he went unassisted with a highlight-reel goal. Spooner’s goal was his first point since missing the last five games with an injury.
In order for the Bruins to come out with a victory against the Pirates they are going to have to step up their game when it comes to power plays. Despite being ranked 19th in the league on the power play, Wednesday night they went 0/3, two of those opportunities being 5-on-3 advantages. They had a serious advantage on the shot clock, they just need to focus on their timing and making sure that they’re following through with their rebounds.
They will also need their key forwards to step up to the plate, guys like Chris Bourque and Jamie Tardif who have helped carry the team to victories in the absence of Spooner and their captain Trent Whitfield, who both made their debuts last game.
Puck drops at 7:05pm and can be seen/heard on AHL Live.
